PFTI ASCH-CERTIFIED TRAININGS

The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) is the largest organization for professionals practicing clinical hypnosis. It is prestigious and rigorous — certification by ASCH means that you are a well-trained clinician who holds the highest ethical and professional standards.

ASCH offers certification to Master’s level-and-above psychotherapists and other health-care professionals at two levels. “Certification” requires minimum 60 hours of sequential training — the first 40 are “workshop,” the final 20 are consultation hours in a group of six or less. You must be an ASCH member, be licensed in your profession and have two years of independent practice utilizing clinical hypnosis.

The higher level, “Approved Consultant,” comprises the above requirements plus 60 additional hours of workshop training, five years of independent practice and five years of ASCH or equivalent organization membership. All trainings must be ASCH-approved.

"Becoming an Approved Consultant has expanded my financial and clinical opportunities."

WINTER 2009

60-HOUR BEGINNING ERICKSONIAN WORKSHOP TRAINING FOR ASCH CERTIFICATION

This ASCH-Certified training in Ericksonian hypnosis is geared toward participants who wish to learn and integrate the unique language, art, and science of unconscious communication and healing as developed and practiced by Milton H. Erickson, MD, Virginia Satir, Moshe Feldenkrais, and Kay Thompson, DDS. Focusing on the self-development of the therapist and conducted in a learning environment of safety and playfulness, the training gives solid grounding in conscious and unconscious communication and can be applied to any theoretical orientation. We seek to refine the art of being a therapist rather than the act of doing therapy. We work with our natural unconscious language and its effect on the body and on awareness. Our goal is to amplify excellence and elegance. We use didactic, demonstration, videotape, group support and extensive practice with personalized supervision.

"This training changed my work and my life." — PFTI Student

SPRING/FALL 2009

60-HOUR INTERMEDIATE ERICKSONIAN WORKSHOP TRAINING FOR ASCH CERTIFICATION

This ASCH-Certified training in Ericksonian hypnosis is a continuation of the Beginning Training. Participants will further develop the integration of the unique language, art and science of unconscious commmunication and healing. Emphasis will be on the development of distinctions in the use of language, of rhythm, of flexibility in attunement of minimal cues, and in therapist's awareness of his or her own non-verbal patterning. Content will focus on specific treatment areas and case materials. By the end of this course, it is expected students will be comfortable with formal hypnosis and be skillful in conversational hypnotic techniques. They also will have enhanced and deepened their approaches by developing an intense communication with their own unconscious. Each student will be expected to do a full demonstration and write a short paper on a case using their unique hypnotic skills.

"As this course progressed and I was developing and using new skills, I noticed I was enjoying my work more and had more energy at the end of the day."

THE FOUR MASTERS VIDEO SERIES
Four Sundays in Spring

A series of one-day workshops that explore the pioneering styles of four great hypnotic innovators of the 20th Century. Ms. Parsons-Fein studied with and knew each of them and has assembled an outstanding archive of videotapes and materials. We will refine, refresh and deepen our therapeutic skills by watching, studying and practicing the approaches of Kay Thompson, DDS - Conversational Hypnosis; Virginia Satir - Family Hypnosis; Moshe Feldenkrais - Body Hypnosis; Milton H. Erickson, MD - Everyday Hypnosis. You can attend the workshops individually or at a reduced rate for the series. For details on each workshop, click here.

"I was able to start using their techniques immediately, with surprising results."

“I discovered miracles in their work I never knew were there – they were just names to me before. I even created one of my own.”

“It was both enriching and uplifting. I loved being there.”

— PFTI Students

THE LANGUAGE OF PAIN - WEEKEND WORKSHOP ON PAIN CONTROL

This weekend will focus on a variety of hypnotic techniques tailored to each individual patient's metaphor. It is based on Crasilneck's statement, "In proper perspective, hypnosis may not only relieve pain but may also help to maintain the dignity and well-being of the patient without dependence on large quantities of medication." We will look at chronic pain, acute pain and give at least fifteen techniques for working with pain hypnotically. Our goal is to increase the professional's ability to join with the patient's creative imagery and experience - not only to allevieate levels of discomfort but to give the patient a sense of control over the overwhelming sense of helplessness and dependency many have. We will draw from the work of many masters, including Kay Thompson, who said, "When everything that ought to be done should be done has be done, there's no longer any need for the pain."

1 weekend: September - dates to be announced.

Fee: $560 ($40/hour)
